I had the great pleasure of attending the WDCU AGM last night at Poloc CC. Not too much excitement but the following points were raised –
1) Match toss is to take place at 12:45pm prompt. Teams not ready by 12:45 will forfeit the toss.
2) Due to the major surplus on the WDCU accounts clubs will be receiving a number of free match balls. As a club with 2 Saturday sides, we’ll get 12.
3) In a similar vein to the SCNL, there was a proposal (by Iain Stewart the west development officer at Cricket Scotland) to have an U18 Western Academy side join Division 1. Each side would play them once (on Sundays) with half points available to the club side and double available to the Academy. This proposal was not voted on and will be discussed further by the league management committee.
4) The “No draw” proposal put forward by EK was rejected by 18 votes to 12. [We had voted FOR the removal of the draw following discussions at our own AGM]
5) GHK have withdrawn their 3rd team, Crow Road.
6) The WDCU Committee are looking to clamp down on player umpire cheating – esp. on LBWs. One unnamed side were reprimanded after receiving 3 negative reports in a row.

In order to carry on all the good work of the last 2 years under the captaincy of Graham Lang, it is has been agreed to move this year's AGM forward to Thursday 6th November at 7:30pm in the club. Formal notices will be going out to all members by post over the coming days but a good attendance is vital.
Another date for your diary is the race night on the Friday 28th November. Fulll details details in Social Diary.
Finally, a new batch of club ties to commemorate the SCU Trophy win are available for the ridiculous cheap price of a tenner. Please speak to Jules if you wish one. Supplies are limited so it is first come, first served.
