It is with great regret that we have to report the sudden passing of club member David 'Whisky' Walker .
As a player & supporter of both Cricket & Rugby at Ardencaple the big fellow will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts at this sad time are with Fiona & family.
Funeral arrangements are St. Mungos Church, Alexandria on Saturday 15th October at 9.00am

Caddies Match
Due to the Barclays Scottish Golf Open now being played at the Castle Stuart Golf Links the annual chairty Caddies match will now also be played in Inverness. For 2011 Helensburgh cricket club will be sending some players to join with Inverness cricket club for the match on Tuesday 5th July. The intention is to hand the baton over to Inverness so that they can continue to play this charity match and keep the tradition up. Like most locals we hope the Barclays Scottish Open retruns to Loch Lomond so that we can resurrect this fixture. Why not join us in Inverness to lend you support to this charity event.
Casino Night and Cricket 6s in aid of Cancer Research UK
In 2010, following the loss of one of the Club’s great characters to cancer, we organised a fundraising weekend to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The event took place on a Saturday night in June and consisted of a casino night, auction and raffle. An entry fee of £10 was charged and everybody had a fantastic night, including a fabulous supper kindly provided by the Buffet Shop in Helensburgh. On the Sunday we held a cricket sixes tournament and BBQ and all in all raised the sum of £2,330.
We are holding the event again this year and it will take place at the Cricket and Rugby Clubhouse on the 9th and 10th July 2011 and will follow the same format as last year. We hope to run some extra fun and games, yet to be announced, on Sunday 10th which will take place alongside the cricket 6’s and BBQ in the early afternoon.
Tickets again will be £10 and can be obtained from Julian Rey (M. 07748145834) or from Allan Cavana at Admin Systems in West King Street, Helensburgh. We are very keen to beat last years total and are looking out for any worthy raffle and auction items to boost our cause. We would be delighted to hear from you if you can help us, in any way, to achieving our target.
